Fall 2020 Parks and Rec Schedule Highlights Fitness and Fun

Senior Bowling League Debuts, RSVPs to Info Meeting Sought

With a purposeful objective of combining fitness and fun, the Prosper Parks and Recreation Department has revealed its program schedule for fall 2020. New classes include online fitness, Zumba, yoga, and nutrition workshops.

Often, the Parks and Recreation staff will cheerfully seek specific activities for the beloved senior community. To that end, the inaugural Prosper Senior Bowling League is currently forming. Bowlers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend the informational meeting on Tuesday, August 25 at 2:00pm at Strikz, 8769 Lebanon Road, in Frisco. Interested bowlers should call 972-569-1160 to RSVP and to obtain details. League play begins Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00pm at Strikz. A special and fun surprise awaits those who RSVP to the meeting in advance!

The fall schedule includes program topics that are returning by popular demand such as art, chess, tennis, soccer sparks, and advanced archery. A visit to www.ProsperParksandRec.org will provide dates, times, and location details for programs targeting youth, adults, and Seniors/Active Adults (ages 55+). Registration is now open, with the first classes beginning the week of September 15.

Currently underway for persons age 55 and over are weekly virtual games held via Zoom. Games currently hosted, at no charge, are Texas Forty-Two, Trivia Time! and Bingo. For details about how to play or to request additional information, players should contact Trevor Helton, Recreation Services Supervisor, at thelton@prospertx.gov or call 972-569-1064. Prosper Men’s Softball is also registering through September 25 at www.ProsperParksandRec.org. This is a fun, recreational league with an 8-game season and play-offs. Games begin October 4 at Frontier Park.

“We’re excited to announce our fall 2020 line-up of programs,” says Dudley Raymond, Director of Parks and Recreation. “The challenges of 2020 have been the ‘wind beneath the wings’ of our staff and they’ve worked hard to develop safe activities that promote fun and fitness and meet the needs of the community at this time.”

The Prosper Parks and Recreation Department produces a year-round schedule of activities and events which promote family and neighbor interaction in community parks.
