Prosper Community Library’s Fall Programming to Go Completely Virtual

Fittingly for these unusual times, the Prosper Community Library is announcing that its fall program will be completely virtual with a virtual kickoff on Monday, August 31, according to Director of Library Services Leslie Scott.

“We have over 100 virtual programs for all ages and we believe there is something fun, educational, and entertaining for most everyone,” she said. “No matter the age or interest, the fall will be full of programming that everyone will enjoy and benefit from.”

Examples of the wide diversity in programming includes Babies and Books, Preschool Storytime, and Bored, Not Bored with Oliver for young children. Grade schoolers will surely enjoy highly entertaining programs such as Draw with Me, I Love that Series, and Illustrated By.

A few past favorites such as Harry Potter Club and Anime will return in new formats. Teens will likely turn virtual cartwheels over the Tween/Teen program, and families will share their enjoyment of Recipes & Reading. Several fall programs are geared specifically to adults such as Yoga in the Stacks, Repurposed Books, and Crochet with Kat.

An American Sign Language interpreter will be imbedded into some children’s programs, representing a first for Prosper. “I am especially proud of programs like Bilingual Story Time and Lil Yogi. We have such a passionate staff and they were thrilled to share their talents and expertise with our community.”

All virtual programs will be posted to the library’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVs6i6TYSCry9p8aeAcX5fA. Reminders of each week’s events will be posted on the library’s Facebook and Instagram accounts on Sundays. A search for Prosper Community Library on Facebook and Prosper Library on Instagram will lead to informational pages on those social media platforms. Calls for information can be made to (972) 569-1185.

There are no live or ticketed events, making them available any time after their initial posting. This facilitates watching the programming at convenient times as well as repeat viewing. Library membership is not required to watch and enjoy any of the programs.

For those with a membership, the library’s To Go Service continues to be very successful and checking out items that way remains. Members can also take advantage of Lynda.com, Mango Languages, and Overdrive available via the library’s web page, https://www.prospertx.gov/residents/library/.

There is currently no change to the library’s operational hours. Patrons are welcome on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from noon to 6:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am to 2:00pm. These hours are subject to change and the library is making every effort to expand them when appropriate. The library is located at 200 S. Main.

“We are incredibly proud of all the different programs we are creating for our community,” added Scott. “We strive to think outside the traditional ways of offering library services, and we hope the community takes advantage of our offerings. Please be sure to check us out!”
