Prosper residents and members of the North Texas Jackrabbits have qualified to the AAU Junior Olympics which takes place July 28th-August 4th in Iowa.
Overall, the Jackrabbits team has 58 qualifiers which will compete in the Junior Olympics games. The club is in it’s 10th season which started in Prosper in 2008 under the direction of Omar and Sheila Stoutmire.
Jackrabbits is a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization. The club held a carwash at Sonic in Prosper last weekend to help raise funds for the qualifiers in assistance with travel expenses to Des Moines, Iowa.
These Prosper athletes have worked hard all season to earn their spot to compete at the most elite track and field event in the Nation.
Prentice Sanders, 13 years old, attends Reynolds Middle School and will compete in his 4th Junior Olympics. Prentice will compete in the 200, 400, 4×100 relay, and 4×400 relay.
Haftom Foutz, 14 years old, attends Prosper High School and will compete in his 2nd Junior Olympics. Haftom will compete in the 200, 400, 4×100 relay, and 4×400 relay.
Hannah Stoutmire, 15 years old, attends Prestonwood and will compete in her 5th Junior Olympics. Hannah will run the 800.
Madison Brinkley, 13 years old, attends Reynolds Middle school and will compete in her 2nd Junior Olympics competing in the Long Jump, 100, and 4×100 relay.
Macy Owens, 15 years old, attends Prosper High School, this is her first Junior Olympics appearance but she has her plate full with competing in the 400 hurdles, Javelin, High Jump, and Heptathlon which consist of 7 events. Macy was a big stand out at the Southwestern Region 18 Championships/National qualifier when she won 1st place in the Heptathlon, Javelin, and High jump, and placed 3rd in the 400 hurdles.
