I’m a Texan, born and raised. Tex-Mex food has been a staple of my diet for 42 years, so you can imagine my excitement when Salsa Tex Mex Restaurant opened just a half mile from my office and less than six miles from my home.
Not even a week after opening their doors, my husband decided to work from home so I called him to meet me for lunch. First off, if you are hoping to get a parking spot anywhere close to the entrance during lunch, don’t. Unless the stars are aligned and the parking fairy is feeling generous, you’ll not be one of the fortunate souls.
After the trek into the restaurant, we noticed it was much larger inside than expected. Five large televisions showing news and sports were hung throughout the restaurant and bar area. The seating capacity sign on the wall says 298, which is quite a few enchiladas.
We sat down and ordered drinks, just water since it was lunch. The drinks were delivered promptly. While we browsed the menu, we snacked on the chips and salsa. The chips were fresh and the salsa was absolutely delicious. We continued to look at the lunch menu, which offers a good assortment of food from the standard enchiladas, fajitas and quesadillas to more unique platters such as tilapia, brisket tacos and even a grilled salmon salad for those looking for a healthier option.
Wanting to give an honest review, I tried one of my favorites, cheese enchiladas, so I could compare it to ones I love, while my husband ordered the beef burrito.
Our meals arrived very quickly and the portions were generous. While tasty, neither my husband nor I cleaned our plates. We saw the manager frequently checking in on the main dining area, which is terrific.
The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly, but it is extremely loud inside. We were sitting directly across from one another at a small table and felt as if we had to almost yell to carry on a conversation. At first, I thought it was the overhead music, but unfortunately, I think it’s the acoustics so I am not sure what can be done to make it any better.
Our bill for the two of us was under $20 before tip, which I felt was an exceptional value for the large portions. We did not have dessert or bar drinks, but I can guarantee we will be back one evening to have a margarita in the large patio dining area.
Overall, a good dining experience. The atmosphere is family friendly, but also a place where you can wind down and relax with good food, just remember your walking shoes for the hike from the parking lot.

We went for lunch at Salsa Tex Mex a couple weeks ago. Had the taco salad. The salad part was very good but the shell was very stale. I hope they improve on that.
