Prosper has stayed on the top of the grid both academically as well as in athletics throughout the years. In the last two school years, Prosper ISD has earned many top accolades and championships. Football has won District, Volleyball earned the title of State Champions, Swim and Dive have multiple District titles and Basketball is ranked #6 in the State. Baseball, Wrestling, Track, Cross Country, academic UIL, One-Act, and Band have all stayed on the top of the charts as well.
Currently, Prosper is set at 5A District 8. However, the University Interscholastic League, more commonly known as UIL, just announced this morning that Prosper will be one of many schools officially moving up with the big dogs in the 6A Conference. Prosper High School’s enrollment of 2,975 students is what sparked the move. High schools with an enrollment of 2,190 students or more are considered 6A.
Prosper Football and Basketball will both hold new competition in the 2018-2019 / 2019-2020 school years against Allen, Dallas Jesuit (Boys athletics only), McKinney, McKinney Boyd, Plano, Plano East, and Plano West. These 8 teams comprise the 6A Conference, District 9.
Prosper Volleyball will also be placed into 6A District 9 Region II and will compete against Allen, McKinney, McKinney Boyd, Plano, Plano East, and Plano West.
The other schools transitioning from 5A to 6A include Austin, Bryan, Dallas, Molina, Donna North, Fort Bend Elkins, Humble, Laredo Nixon, Mansfield Lake Ridge, Mansfield Summit, North Richland Hills Richland, Northwest Eaton, Temple, Tomball Memorial, Waco, and Waxahachie.
Currently there is no official placement for other programs and teams who will also be transitioning to class 6A. These conference changes will remain in place for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years.
