The Prosper Lady Eagles are heading to the playoffs as district champions after sweeping Little Elm on the road in their last regular season game.
Junior Kayla Martin started the Lady Eagles off on a serving streak kept alive with some big blocks by senior Taryn Weber and a kill by CiCi Hecht, perfectly placed by fellow junior setter Madi Whitmire. Prosper increased the lead to 17-6 after a kill by senior Chloe Hancock. Prosper would go on to take the first set 25-12.
The second set started a little slower for the Lady Eagles, but Hope Gramly slammed one down to tie the game at 4 and that’s all Prosper needed to get back on track to take the second set 25-16.
Senior Macy Walterscheid started the third set in the serving position as Prosper took a 3-1 lead right off the bat. Junior Morgan Monroe set one up for senior Haley Killinger midway through the set that would put the Lady Eagles up 14-5. Terrific teamwork between Hecht, Whitmire, Martin and Weber would give the Lady Eagles the third and final set 25-6.
Killinger ended the night with 13 kills, 9 digs and 5 aces. Hecht had 11 kills, 10 digs and 2 aces.
Prosper will face Frisco Independence in the bi-district round of playoffs next Tuesday, October 31, at McKinney High School at 7:30 p.m.
