Chill in the Air Signals Warm Welcome from Parks and Rec

As the weather cools, Prosper Parks and Recreation warms up, offering both indoor and outdoor options for youth and adults. Registration is now open at www.prosperparksandrec.org.

“Parks and Recreation has always offered high quality programs for all ages and we are pleased to announce we will continue numerous activities throughout this season,” said Dudley Raymond, Director of Parks and Recreation. “If you’re looking for ways to get out in the fresh air, we’ve got that! Indoor options following our Fun and Fitness theme include nutrition workshops, art instruction, fitness classes, and methods for learning to relax and improve creativity. The schedule also features expanded programs for Active Adults/Seniors age 55+ with the addition of virtual Yahtzee and the new Prosper Area Senior Bowling League.”

The Virtual Visit with The Mayor, via Zoom, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at 11:00am. Traditionally hosted as the Mayor’s Luncheon, this event is produced specially for Prosper Active Adults/Seniors ages 55+. As usual, Mayor Ray Smith will provide an update on happenings in and around Prosper. “Virtual Visitors” should RSVP at www.prosperparksandrec.org by midnight, September 27. Instructions for joining the Virtual Visit via Zoom will be mailed to residences in early October. Contact Jonathan Weeks at jweeks@prospertx.gov or 972-569-1057 for more information.

The Prosper Area Senior Bowling League is currently rolling each Tuesday at Strikz, 8769 Lebanon Road, in Frisco. Bowlers of all skill levels are invited to join the fun. Recreational league play continues each Tuesday at 1:00pm. A $10 weekly fee, to cover shoes and games, is due at the door. Fee is only due for weeks played. Advance registration is requested; please sign up at www.prosperparksandrec.org. Contact Barbara Cottone at bcottone@prospertx.gov or 972-569-1052 with questions.

Virtual games continue via zoom as an opportunity for area seniors to get together and have some fun. There is no charge to participate. Games include Texas-Forty-Two (Tuesdays at 9:30am); Trivia Time! (Wednesdays at 3:00pm); Yahtzee (Thursdays at 3:00pm) and Bingo (Fridays at 3:00pm). Reservations for Texas-Forty-Two are required by 1:00pm the Monday before each game. No other games require reservations. Youth outdoor sports continue with tennis for ages 5 and up, soccer sparks for ages 2 to 9, and advanced archery for ages 9 to 18. Adult options include Zumba, yoga, art, nutritional workshops, evening tennis, and men’s softball. Governor Abbott’s guidelines for safe practices and preventive actions to slow the spread of COVID-19 are employed before, during and after all programs.
