Prosper Christmas Festival at Frontier Park set for Dec. 2
Navigating the traffic and dealing with parking while attending the annual Prosper Christmas Festival at Frontier Park are made much easier when visitors take advantage of the free park and ride shuttles.
The Prosper Christmas Festival at Frontier Park is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Prosper Rotary and Prosper Lions Clubs Christmas Parade will be held within the park’s driveways, starting at 2:30 p.m.
As in previous years, the hassles of trying to find adequate parking are virtually eliminated when arriving at the park and ride location and taking the buses to and from the event.
The shuttles will originate at the parking lots behind Prosper High School, just west of Preston Road on Frontier Parkway. Prosper Police will be directing traffic into and out of the high school lots.
That will be most important this year, as Frontier Parkway, between the two park entrances, will be closed from 1:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. due to the parade. In fact, all park entrances will close at 2:15 p.m. and reopen after the parade, around 3 p.m.
Public parking at the facility will be accessible via the western park entrance, nearest the North Dallas Tollway, prior to the 2:15 p.m. closure and after the 3 p.m. reopening. The entrance will remain open until the lots are full. The eastern park entrance is reserved for VIPs, sponsors and vendors.
A limited number of handicapped parking spaces are also available within the park.
Shuttle buses will run from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.; from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 6:15 p.m. until everyone is returned to their cars.
“Frontier Park will be a great venue for this year’s festival,” says Julie Shivers, Recreation Services Coordinator. “Good advice is to be flexible, be of good cheer, and be early. Parking and traffic details are posted at ProsperChristmasFestival.org. We ask for the public’s patience and understanding as we look forward to a festive Christmas celebration and thousands of visitors at Frontier Park.”
The event, parade, along with the shuttles, are free. Food, drinks, gifts, handicrafts and other merchandise will be available for purchase.
