Prosper Mayor Ray Smith (third from right) presents US Congressman Van Taylor (R-TX) with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his work in facilitating a grant from the Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration. Funded as part of the CARES Act, the $3M grant will be used for water infrastructure improvements on Prosper’s west side. The grant will supplement $6.4M in local funds to complete the project which will result in providing water services to new schools and businesses including Cook Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Health Medical Office Building.

Joining the Mayor in recognizing the congressman’s efforts are (left to right) Prosper Town Manager Harlan Jefferson, Executive Director of Development and Infrastructure Service Rebecca Zook, Emergency Management Coordinator Kent Bauer, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Craig Andres, Councilmember Marcus Ray, Executive Director of the Prosper Economic Development Corporation Mary Ann Moon, and Councilmember Charles Cotten. The federal funds were secured through the combined efforts of the Prosper Economic Development Corporation, the Town of Prosper Executive Team, the North Central Texas Economic Development District, and Blais & Associates.
