Mighty Eagle Band Among Best in Texas

For the first time in Prosper history, the Prosper High School Mighty Eagle Band will join the top 32 5A bands in the state of Texas at the UIL State Marching Contest. The event will take place from November 6-8 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The band secured their spot by taking second place at the UIL Area B Area Marching Contest on October 28th.

At the Area contest, the Prosper band competed in both music and marching with all of the bands from Region 5, Region 24 and Region 25 that had earned Superior First Division ratings at their respective UIL Region contests. These regions consist of a total of 35 5A schools from approximately 15 DFW school districts, such as Fort Worth, Mansfield, Arlington, Frisco, Little Elm, Plano, McKinney, Lovejoy and others. The Area Contest consisted of two rounds, and only the top 10 bands would advance to the final round. Prosper had a strong second place finish in the preliminary round. Of the remaining 10 bands that went on to the finals, only the top 3 would make it to State. For the first time in the Mighty Eagle’s band history, their second-place finish would qualify them for the state competition!

The band will also be representing Prosper alongside 100 of the top marching bands in the United States at the Bands of America Grand National Marching Competition in Indianapolis, Indiana.
